RIP Brian Clemens, screenwriter, director and producer: 1931-2015

ClemensBrian Clemens, a prolific screenwriter who scripted and produced a number of high-profile projects, has died. He was 83.

Clements worked as a writer and producer for numerous television thrillers, most notably The Avengers and The Professionals. His other credits for television include Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Hammer House of Mystery and Suspense, H.G. Wells’ Invisible Man and many others.

In addition to his contributions to television, Clements worked in films. He lent his talents to fantasy films, providing the story for Highlander II: The Quickening and writing The Golden Voyage of Sinbad; he also wrote and produced the Hammer horror Dr. Jekyll and Sister Hyde. His sole directorial credit is for the 1974 film Captain Kronos – Vampire Hunter which, again, he wrote and produced. In 2010 he received an OBE for his services to broadcasting and drama.
