Shameless Screen Entertainment to release Fulci’s Contraband, Deodato’s The Washing Machine, Deodato box set

cannibalholShameless Screen Entertainment has announced the next three releases in its line of exploitation DVDs. The titles in question are Lucio Fulci’s 1980 film Contraband (Luca il contrabbandiere, aka The Smuggler); Ruggero Deodato’s 1993 outing The Washing Machine (Vortice mortale); and a box set of previously-released Deodato films entitled Deodato — Cinema of Death.

Due to be released on May 19, Contraband is Fulci’s only film in the Italian poliziotteschi genre, and like many of the director’s films is noted for its heavy level of bloody violence. The Washing Machine, an erotic thriller involving a body found in the titular appliance, will follow in either July or August.

Stake Land to become television series

StakelandJim Mickle and Nick Damici, creators of the film Stake Land, are set to extend the 2010 movie into a television series.

Originally conceived as a web series, Stake Land is set in a post-apocalyptic environment infested with vampires. The television series will beset seven years after the events of the film and introduce more species of vampire into its fictional world. “I’ve got to have enough of a budget to have flying vamps”, says Damici. “It spread to animals, so we’ve got vamp dogs and a vamp bear.”
